Reusable software provider Vytal Global announces groundbreaking partnership with PepsiCo in the away-from-home sector and launches its entry into the reusable event industry at the start of this year's INTERNORGA
Cologne, 08.03.2024 - Vytal Global and PepsiCo, one of the world's leading food and beverage manufacturers, are joining forces to launch the first PepsiCo reusable cup with dual-tracking technology for sustainable customer loyalty and efficient logistics at this year's INTERNORGA. Vytal is also announcing its entry into the event industry, accompanied by several technological innovations at its stand.
β
Under the motto "MORE THAN A CUP", Vytal is presenting several reusable technology innovations at this year's INTERNORGA and is now also offering its digital reusable solutions in the event and entertainment sector.Β
β
The start-up underlined the seriousness of its move into the event market a few weeks ago with the founding of its wholly owned subsidiary Vytal Events & Entertainment Solutions. By equipping several event locations with reusable equipment as part of the Berlinale 2024, Vytal has already made a brilliant start to the year with its range of software solutions and logistics services.
β
"With our range of smart technology combined with services from logistics to flushing, we are hitting a nerve in the industry. Operators save costs, gain efficiency and transparency and open up exciting new opportunities in customer interaction," says Dr. Tim Breker, founder and CEO of Vytal.Β Β
β
In terms of technology, Vytal is increasingly focusing on convenience and innovating the entire value chain from dispensing to return in order to make processes simpler and more cost-efficient for restaurateurs and guests. In future, guests will not only be able to borrow reusable containers from Vytal via app, but also directly by credit or debit card using the new "Tap2Borrow" function. It will also be easier for canteen guests to borrow reusable containers - a cup dispenser makes it possible to provide reusable cups without any staff. The convenience offensive is rounded off by a smart take-back option that also requires no staff or further action from the guest: the borrowed containers are simply disposed of in one step and automatically booked out.Β
β
However, the biggest innovation is definitely the Vytal Pepsi Cup - a smart reusable cup that not only makes reusability easy, but also extremely interactive. The Vytal Pepsi Cup has an individual QR code for interaction with the customer and an RFID tag for scalable, operational processes. Both companies are setting new standards in the industry with the introduction of the reusable cup, which will be made available via QSR partners (Quick Service Restaurant Partners) and at major PepsiCo events in Germany. Over the next two years, 100,000 of the branded cups will be launched in the markets.
β
"This partnership underlines our ongoing commitment to the pep+ agenda and at the same time supports our business objectives," explains Torben Nielsen, Managing Director of PepsiCo DACH. "By partnering with Vytal, we are not only intensifying our focus on the away-from-home segment, but also initiating impactful changes that effectively contribute to minimizing plastic waste," says Torben Nielsen, Managing Director of PepsiCo DACH.
β
Dr. Josephine Kreische, Managing Director of Vytal, adds: " To make a real contribution to protecting ecosystems, reusable packaging must work on a mass scale. This requires real added value for end customers and an innovative, scalable approach. The cooperation with PepsiCo enables exactly this and creates completely new opportunities for QSRs and the event and entertainment industry."
β
The Vytal Pepsi Cup is the first smart, branded and recyclable reusable cup with the option of linking customer-specific experiences and rewards with the use of the cup in addition to reducing waste and handling logistical processes efficiently, thus creating sustainable customer experiences. With this innovation, both parties want to jointly convince food service customers who currently still use disposable cups to ideally switch to a sustainable reusable system.
β
With the introduction of the Vytal Pepsi Cup, the product innovations in dispensing and redemption and the entry into the event and entertainment industry, Vytal and PepsiCo are marking another milestone in innovation and environmental protection and creating new incentives for all stakeholders to participate in this pioneering development.

PepsiCo and Vytal announce strong partnership in the food service sector
β
- Roll-out of a pioneering initiative: PepsiCo and Vytal join forces for sustainable reusable packaging in the Away-From-Home sector.
β
- Technological revolution: launch of the first PepsiCo reusable cup with dual-tracking technology for sustainable customer loyalty and efficient logistics.
β
- Ecological milestone: Significant step towards reducing plastic waste and promoting a sustainable lifestyle.
Hamburg, 08.03.2024- In a long-term initiative, PepsiCo, one of the world's leading food and beverage manufacturers, and Vytal, a globally successful innovator in the field of circular economy and software-based reusable solutions, have joined forces to grow even stronger together in the Away-From-Home segment: The Vytal Pepsi Cup is the reusable solution that combines measurable sustainability with digital experiences.
β
The new cup with the Pepsi logo uses two tracking technologies: an individual QR code for interaction with the customer and an RFID tag for scalable operational processes. By introducing a traceable cup system, which will be made available via PepsiCo's QSR partners (Quick Service Restaurant Partners) in Germany, both companies are setting new standards in the industry. Over the next two years, 100,000 of the branded cups will be launched in the markets.
β
The launch of the PepsiCo Vytal reusable cups is a clear commitment to sustainable innovation from both companies and underlines their shared commitment to accelerate the transition to a greener future. The cups will initially be launched through the QSR channel. Consumers can register via the Vytal app and return the cup to one of the Vytal partner locations in Germany.
β
"This partnership underlines our ongoing commitment to the pep+ agenda while supporting our business objectives," explains Torben Nielsen, Managing Director of PepsiCo DACH. "By working with Vytal, we are not only intensifying our focus on the away-from-home segment, but also initiating impactful changes that effectively contribute to minimizing plastic waste."
β
Dr. Josephine Kreische, Managing Director of Vytal, adds: "To make a real contribution to protecting ecosystems, reusable packaging must work on a mass scale. This requires real added value for end customers and an innovative, scalable approach. The cooperation with PepsiCo enables exactly this and creates completely new opportunities for QSRs and the event and entertainment industry."
β
By combining QR codes and RFID tags, the system enables seamless customer interaction. The Vytal Pepsi Cup is the first smart, branded and recyclable open loop cup. In future, we will use it to win over catering customers from our network who are currently still using cardboard/plastic cups and then ideally switch to our sustainable reusable system.
β
That's what makes the Vytal Pepsi Cup so special:
β
Living sustainably - With reusable against plastic: The initiative effectively reduces the consumption of single-use plastic by using reusable cups and thus minimizing plastic waste. At the same time, it promotes a sustainable lifestyle through an easy return option via the Vytal app by encouraging consumers to participate in the circular economy and act in a more environmentally conscious way.
β
Increased efficiency in processing: By using RFID tags, the cups can be managed efficiently and easily, which considerably simplifies operational processes such as dispensing, return, cleaning and redistribution.
β
Customized experiences and rewards: The individual assignment of a cup to a user account enables personalized offers and rewards. This not only increases customer satisfaction, but also promotes brand loyalty.
β
Strengthening the brand identity: Visibly marking the cups with the Pepsi logo strengthens the brand presence while promoting a positive, environmentally conscious image.
β
Data generation for sustainability reports: Digital cup tracking provides valuable data that helps companies measure their sustainability goals and understand consumption habits. All data collection is GDPR-compliant and non-critical.
β
The launch of the Vytal Pepsi Cup represents a paradigm shift in the way companies and consumers can work together to respond to the pressing environmental issues of our time.
